About Jacqueline Esquer

Hi, I'm Jacqueline Esquer. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults who are having difficulty managing significant, unexpected life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, as well as those struggling with anxiety, worry and stress. My goal is to guide you toward feeling less alone and burdened by your pain so you can discover your inner wisdom to help you feel better and trust yourself.

My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

Throughout my life, I have felt an immense amount of guilt and shame for the ways I've coped with, grieved or managed feelings rooted in difficult life experiences. Through my own therapy, I realized that my mind and body were simply doing the best they could to keep me going.  I am deeply passionate about helping others understand their own pains and hurts while extending grace and compassion toward whatever you've had to do to get through the darkest, stormiest times. I am dedicated to holding hope for you until you can hold it on your own.

Hope exists for you and within you.

My Professional Background

I received my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz which bolstered my interest in how our society, systems and culture impact how we see ourselves in the world. I will often invite clients to reflect on how culture, systems, and societal standards impact who they are and how they live. Afterwards, I received my Masters in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW #113631) in the state of California. Since graduating from both institutions, I have gained extensive experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, survivors of sexual abuse, surviving family members of homicide victims and I have worked closely with children and families impacted by the foster care system. I now run my own private therapy practice where I support individuals in developing hope, self compassion, and getting rid of any narratives that no longer serve them.
